Ontario automobile insurance continues in the news. A political "football"?
Who doesn't want lower premiums? With minimal insurer profits, the highest number of claims and costs and highest automobile density (cars per square km) in Canada, how else to trim costs?
Aside from cracking down on fraud, which insurers and government are actively pursuing, the only way to cut back on premiums is to either reduce the number and severity of claims (driverless cars?) or cut back on policy benefits (this always sounds good until you are the one seriously injured).
Are we willing to cut back on the most generous automobile insurance benefits in Canada?
