Traveling this summer? Remember to check your home.

Global Administrator
  1. Have someone stop in & check your home daily for leaks in hot water tanks, pipes and toilets or shut off the water at the main. The damage caused by a burst pipe and water running through your home for days is catastrophic.
  2. If you have a sump pump, make sure to install a backup source (battery or generator) so it works in the event of a power outage.
  3. Ensure all doors and windows are locked.
  4. Leave cars in driveways to give the appearance that someone is home.
  5. Inform your alarm companies of your travel plans. Keep indoor and outdoors lights on an automatic timer. Coordinate indoor lights to go on at different times in different rooms.
  6. Ask a friend to pick up mail.
  7. Put newspaper subscriptions on hold. Review your insurance coverage to ensure it's up-to-date.
